


There are two subspecies of the Western Toad: the California Toad (Bufo boreas halophilus) and the Boreal Toad (Bufo boreas boreas).
Voice: A very soft, high pitched, plinking sound like the peeping of a chick.
Breeding: January to early July, in ponds, marshes, and shallow lake, stream and river margins. Breeding only occurs during a few days or a week at any given site.
