Melissa is a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree in the Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology program at the University of California, Davis. She will have completed her degree at the end of Winter Quarter, 1997. At that point she will be looking for work while considering applying for graduate school. Her interest is conservation biology.

Throughout her career at UC Davis, Melissa has been very involved in Equestrian events. For two years she was the president of the UC Davis Equestrian Team, which competes intercollegiately throughout the United States. Melissa enjoys horses, especially her own, Weedwacker, but she doesn't plan to stay involved with horses her entire life. Instead, she hopes to educate the public about the conservation of our world's vanishing wildlife. She has spent two summers teaching children about the environment and the conservation of endangered species at the Sacramento Zoo.
